Despite the availability of information, cosmetic stereotypes are tenacious, and the collection of misconceptions is constantly updated. Here are the most common ones.
MYTH: MORE EXPENSIVE COSMETICS, ABOVE HER EFFICIENCYIN FACT
The price of cream or serum depends not only on the quantity and quality of the active ingredients,
but also from the costs of the manufacturer for packaging, advertising campaigns and various marketing activities. All this hardly relates to the effectiveness of the product. The prestige and brand fame contribute to the final cost. By purchasing a cream or powder from the famous fashion house, you buy not so much cosmetics as a certain status. An exception is professional means. The brands presented in beauty salons often do not advertise and are generally unknown to a wide circle. But they contain biologically active substances in the maximum concentration, and this already directly affects the cost of cosmetics.
MYTH: STARTING AGAINST AGE-CHANGED SKIN CHANGE NEEDS 25 YEARS
IN FACT
If under the struggle against age-related changes is meant skin protection and high-quality moisturizing, we advise you to start it earlier. But using special anti-age products is not worth the rush.Means with peptides, retinol, DMAE and other stellar anti-aging ingredients stimulate the synthesis of their own proteins and establish regeneration processes - the skin itself copes with this at a young age. External support is unlikely to be harmful, but it will be completely useless. When buying anti-age cosmetics, focus not on the age in the passport, but on the condition of the skin. If you protect it from the sun from youth, properly cleanse and nourish it, the appropriate funds may not be required even at 40.
MYTH: HORMONAL COSMETICS IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH
IN FACT
Cosmetics, which the people call hormonal, actually contain phytoestrogens - substances of plant origin. Their effect on the skin is somewhat similar to the action of "native" hormones. Phytoestrogens stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, increase skin elasticity, and strengthen the cell structure. They are considered effective and are often found in anti-aging cosmetics. But their danger is greatly exaggerated: the concentration of phytoestrogens in the cream or serum is not so high, and they, like other cosmetic ingredients, are simply not able to penetrate the blood through the skin.
MYTH: MODERN COSMETICS MAY REPLACE SALON PROCEDURES
IN FACT
On the packaging of some creams you can find the words "laser" or "Botox effect", but we will not entertain ourselves with illusions. Cosmetics work exclusively in the most superficial layers of the skin, while injections or hardware methods affect its deeper layers.Salon treatments and home care should complement each other.
MYTH: THE BEST WAY TO RETURN SKINFLOW - WIPE YOUR FACE WITH A CUBE OF ICE
IN FACT
Sudden cooling causes microspasm of blood vessels, resulting in improved blood circulation and the skin becomes more healthy color. But sometimes ice procedures can be harmful. If the vessels are dilated and too close to the surface of the skin, their walls may burst from such an aggressive effect. Before opening the freezer, assess the condition of the skin. If the vascular network is visible on the cheeks or there are characteristic "stars", contrasting procedures are contraindicated.
MYTH: SUMMER SHOULD NOT BE PEELED AND TREATED HYPERPIGMENTATION
IN FACT
The best time for chemical peels is the period from October to April, when solar activity is minimal. But ultrasonic peeling, if necessary, can be done in the summer, it does not so much increase the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation. Such cleansing will suit both oily and aging skin. Ultrasonic exposure normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands, improves blood circulation, accelerates regeneration and evens out skin tone. You can use modern products that brighten pigment spots. Make sure that they do not contain hydroquinone, but softer arbutin, salicylic acid and vitamin C. It is imperative to use sunscreens!
MYTH: SERUM AND CREAM SHOULD BE ONE MARK AND LINE
IN FACT
Not necessary! You can use moisturizing serum and nourishing cream of different brands. The main thing is that they are suitable for the type of skin. Be careful only with foods containing fruit acids or retinol. Too much concentration of these substances, as well as their combination, is fraught with serious irritation. Ideally, a retinoid and aha acid care program should be selected by a specialist.
MYTH: MODELING AND ANTI-CELLULATE MEANS DO NOT WORK
IN FACT
Cosmetics do not get rid of extra pounds, but they can easily tighten the skin and make it more elastic. If you use such products twice a day, combining with massage and physical activity, after a month you can see the result. Cosmetics with caffeine and carnitine, which break down fat cells, are best suited for body shaping. Seaweed, horsetail, ivy and chestnut extracts remove excess fluid and make the skin supple.
MYTH: ALL PHARMACY COSMETICS ARE HYPOALLERGENIC
IN FACT
Many pharmacy brands, in fact, produce hypoallergenic products that are ideal for sensitive skin. But as a rule, their assortment is not limited to this. In addition, in pharmacies there is also the usual mass cosmetics sold in any supermarket. In order not to get confused, talk to a consultant before buying.
