The motto of this holiday for children and adults: "Help or regret it!"
Samhane - also a harvest festival - after all, the Celts were good tillers. And the harvest festival also marked the end of the year, that is, essentially the New Year. According to Celtic beliefs (and they were "led" by the mystical order of the Druids), each transition from one season to another blurred the line between the spiritual and material worlds, as a result, a variety of spirits, fairies, goblins, ghosts became restless and often passed into the material world. To appease them, people seemed to reincarnate in them with the help of robes and masks, and "on their behalf" went home and asked for food.
When the Romans conquered the Celts in the first century, they did not object to the celebration of Samhain. And by the time of the reign of Pope Gregory III, the Druids also disappeared, and the Celtic traditions began to erode. And a few centuries later, the fear of evil spirits turned into a children's holiday, because the owners of the houses buy off sweets from children who persistently knocking on the doors. And for those who did not have enough sweets, they smeared the door handles with soot.
Children walk withjack lanterns: a candle placed inside a pumpkin, potato or turnip. Who is Jack? An Irish blacksmith, so cunning that he twice tricked the devil himself. True, Jack was not righteous at all, for which he was punished: in anticipation of the Day of Judgment, he was forced to roam the world with a piece of coal covered with a pumpkin from the rain. By the way, no one has set fire inside a potato or turnip for a long time, the tradition of the widespread use of pumpkins for this purpose was laid by American immigrants.
Previously, Halloween was mainly a rural holiday, and today it is not only widely celebrated in many cities and metropolises, but also has become a profitable commercial enterprise. Decorations, fancy dresses, fun dinners at nightclubs have become extremely popular. In many countries, both adults and children are looking forward to the holiday all year, preparing lanterns, costumes of monsters and ghosts. ATUSA the holiday has two capitals - Los Angeles and New York. A variety of fun events take place all night in these cities, few people sleep in these Halloween metropolises. At Disneyland Paris this day, spectacular parades of goblins, vampires and ghosts with pumpkin lanterns are held. In cafes and bars of Paris and other cities France they treat you with a variety of witch dishes. ATIreland bonfires burn throughout the country that day, scaring away evil spirits. ATLatin America and Spain Halloween lasts 3 days and call this celebration "Day of the Dead" - it is believed that the dead these days are returning to the earth and among them are your friends and relatives, who visit you in your own house. Everyone is happy about this, festivals and fireworks are noisy on the streets, gifts are given out. ATGreat Britain on Halloween, guided tours of gloomy dungeons are organized, where stone vaults creak overhead, and vampires and ghosts jump out of dark corners.
Get ready for the holiday everyone starts in at least a few weeks. A wide assortment of skulls, bats, cats, spiders, lanterns, costumes and sweets appears in stores (some of them are quite specific, for example, marzipan coffins or skeletons made of white chocolate). By the way, in the USA and Canada on this holiday most sweets are sold (after Christmas).
In Russia, celebrating Halloween is considered not entirely appropriate, but this is only if taken seriously. And really, why not take part in everyone's fun?
For the hostess, this holiday provides real scope for imagination. It will not require any complex, unique skills or products, it is enough to arrange the dishes accordingly.
For example, you can bake a delicious closed cake. And to make it “special” is easy: on the upper layer of the dough they cut a scary face, a bat or even a skull and sprinkle the finished cake with ground sweet pepper or colored sugar. The same “trick” can be done with cookies, pancakes or marzipan cakes by drawing chocolate “faces” on their surface.
To make blood-red cocktails from drinks ...
Equally difficult to dress up as a terrible monster or ghost. For example, for a mummy costume, you will need a white bathrobe or shirt and pants and several packs of bandages or gauze. In addition, again a little fantasy ...
Want to turn into a witch? Use existing clothing by adding a paper wide-brimmed hat, household gloves, and, of course, a broom. It’s even easier to turn a little boy into a “little devil”: a tail and a pair of horns attached to a hoop instead of cat ears. Well, turning a daughter into a charming witch is even easier: put a few patches on old clothes and put on gloves with glued long red nails on her hands.
Red dye will also serve you, because it perfectly simulates blood both on clothes and on a meat cleaver. And on a black tracksuit you can draw a skeleton with white paint.
Add suitable makeup to the image - and you are guaranteed success!
