A closed, slightly flared and very short dress came into fashion thanks to the English designer Mary Coint back in the 60s of the last century.

60s: hot and stylish! Burda Special Project 07/2019

Then the mini-dress made a real revolution in the world of fashion. It was literally a scandal on the podium. But women and especially men liked this frank mini.

To this day, a short dress is loved by many girls and women, and is considered to be a classic of fashion.

A simple mini dress is a godsend for creative experimentation and variation. From it you can make anything you want - a blouse, tunic and even a maxi dress!

In the magazine Burda 1/2010, the mini-dress pattern is presented in four different versions:

I have already made 6 dresses according to model No. 130 and I am sure that this is not the limit. The pattern is simple, but it has no restrictions. This is a kind of lifesaver, when you really need to sew a new dress quickly, without much effort and any complex structural details.

The pattern requires only the right fabric and simple details - the length of the dress, high cuts, if you want, sleeves of the required length or none at all.

A-line Mini Dress - 60s Fashion

Linen dress

For the first acquaintance with this pattern, I chose a thin linen with a coupon pattern, which actually determined the length of the dress. The only additions to the model were high cuts in the side seams and the absence of a middle seam along the back and flange.

On a note

The pattern proved to be from the best side, corresponds to the size and practically does not require any adjustments. But still there are some nuances that are worth paying attention to.

✂ Dress pattern narrow in the hips

It is not small in size, but in the hips it sits quite tightly. Therefore, when cutting, you can add 1-1.5 cm in the side seams in the hip area, or first cut out a layout.

Many who sewed on this pattern spoke about this feature on the photo forum of our site. Wear discomfort was eliminated due to high cuts, changing the status of the dress to the tunic. Others changed the length of the dress in favor of a blouse.

✂ Boat neckline too short and short shoulder

Straps from linen and strive to appear. The only way out is to increase the shoulder length by 2-3 cm directly on the paper pattern of the shelf and back.

The boat neckline may seem too high, in which case it needs to be deepened a couple of centimeters.

✂ Tucks

Here it is worth mentioning the tucks only from the point of view of the individual characteristics of the figure. I had to deepen and raise the tuck a little.

✂ Recommended fabrics

As it turned out, the pattern of this model is not limited to the recommended fabrics in the instructions. Despite the fact that for the most part you should not neglect fabric recommendations for a specific Burda model!

Dress made of dress wool with an interesting print

A great option for spring, autumn and mild winters. The length of the mini is compensated by long voluminous sleeves. The dress turned out to be very cozy and warm.

In this case, only the shape and length of the sleeves underwent changes. Otherwise, this mini dress makes the original Chanel fabric from cotton and wool. Suitable accessories complete the look.

Satin silk dress with elastane

This is just the case when the fabric is only one meter, and the print requires maximum simplicity. Mini sleeves are an ideal solution, given the fact that the fabric was enough only for them. In this case, the best part of the armhole is best treated with a slanting inlay.

Alloy viscose dress

I like to alter things from good fabrics, which I no longer wear, but I also can’t part with them. It was a long dress, but it became short. And again my favorite pattern came to the rescue.

Woolen Velor Dress

And this story is about a little black dress, when the model is completely self-sufficient without any additions or changes. Of course, in this case, the main role is played by the fabric and a successful pattern.

Eternal classic: sew a little black dress
