What is ratin?
Ratin (fr. Ratine) - a dense and warm fabric made of wool, characterized by the characteristic texture of a figured-laid short thick pile.
Raw materials for ratin are usually 100 percent wool. The fiber is dyed before weaving, this makes the color of the fabric more stable and uniform. The threads are joined into a twill weave. Then the fabric is nap - combed using special nap machines. This is followed by a stage that gives the ratin its characteristic appearance. The fabric is subjected to ratification or curly roll. The process uses hot steam, a special press, brushes and rollers - the pile falls off, fits into various patterns.
Usually, rattin is one-colored, less often multicolored or mottled.
