How to repair a hole on a jacket or down jacket using thermal stickers: master class + tricks and tips.
Adhesive thermal sticker on the fabric is, in general, a simple matter. It is necessary to place the sticker in the right place and press it with a hot iron. But in the case of a jacket on a heater or a down jacket, two points should be considered. Firstly, often the outer material of such clothes is made of synthetics. It is easy to damage such a fabric with an overheated iron, and a little heat may not take a sticker, especially a thick one. Secondly, for the best gluing of the sticker, it is necessary that the surface under it be smooth, preferably hard. And the filler in the jacket creates softness and volume. The master class below is about how to better act by gluing thermal stickers on a thing made of synthetics with volumetric insulation.
By the way, hot glue application can be done with your own hands. How - read here:

Step 1
First you need to prepare the damaged place. If this is a gap, it is worth fastening its edges by hand with not too frequent stitches with thin threads. It is necessary to strengthen the damaged place, not too thickening it.If a hole was formed due to thermal action (for example, a hole burned through a spark from a firework), and deformed thickened edges formed, it is better to cut them so that the surface of the fabric becomes flat. If the edges of the burnt hole are not too deformed (as in our case), you can not cut them off.
Step 2
For the sticker to stick well, it is better that the surface on which we stick it is flat. If there is damage on the shelf or back of the jacket, it is good enough to smooth the repaired area on the ironing board. If we are repairing a sleeve or overalls leg, it is good to use a sleeve platform, wrapping it with a towel so that the part is well stretched. If there is no sleeve platform, you can fold a large towel tightly and place it in a sleeve or leg.
Place a sticker covering the damaged area.
Cover everything with an iron.
Glue with a heated iron (medium heat).
Wait for the material to cool and check that the sticker is well adhered. If necessary, repeat the iron manipulations, not forgetting the iron.
Step 3
If you are going to wash a thing, it is better to sew on a sticker in addition. Unsecured with a seam, after washing it may begin to peel off. It is better to use a thin needle. Sew the needle around the perimeter of the applique. Grab only the top layer of fabric and the sticker.
