Both of these methods, of course, double the thickness of your tape at the place of application, which may not be so noticeable when sewing the tape into a belt, but nonetheless. There is a more accurate method that will allow you to reliably stitch the ends of the elastic tape, while avoiding any thickening.

To do this, you will need a piece of organza or any other very light and thin, but strong fabric. Lay the ends of the tape over a piece of organza, butt-to-end aligning the slices.
Using the zigzag stitch, sew the joint, and also lay an additional line on each side of the joint.
If necessary, trim the excess organza. Done!
