Basting with temporary stitches is an integral part of sewing, which affects the quality of sewing two parts together.
When sewing from thick and bulky fabrics, do not neglect basting. This will take longer than when working with other tissues, but the result is worth it.
Using the example of a voluminous coat of coats on a knitted basis, we will consider how to sweep parts correctly, so that they can be smoothly and accurately pounded.
You will need:
✂ Super Stretch needle for sewing machines No. 90;
✂ Pins for patchwork (they must be sharp, long and durable);
✂ Long needle and thread for sewing;
✂ Ruler for marking allowances
How to decorate cashmere coat
Step 1
Fold the parts together, matching the slices exactly.
The thickness of the total cut is 2 cm!
Step 2
Use the patchwork pins to chip the parts.
Be extremely careful when working with such pins, they are very sharp.
Step 3
Remove the first pin from the fabric and stick a thread with a needle into the fabric. Sew stitches of medium length, stepping back from a cut of about 5 mm. At the same time, hold the fabric with your left hand.

Step 4
Going to the next patchwork pin, remove it and continue to wring the parts to the end.
Step 5
In addition, sweep the parts, departing from the cuts of 3 cm.Follow the marking just like the first, holding the fabric with your left hand.
This method allows you to smoothly perform the marking without shifting the slices and parts relative to each other.
Step 6
Set the stitch length to 4–5 mm on your sewing machine. This is due to the thickness and volume of the fabric so that the sewing machine does not slip in place during sewing.

Step 7
Stitch parts between basting stitches at allowance.
In this workshop, allowances for 2 cm seams.
The result is a straight line with the same allowances.
