With the help of a simple decorative effect, long straight sleeves acquire a unique originality and look equally beautiful, both in plain fabric and print fabric.

We will consider how to perform such processing of extra-long raglan sleeves using the example of a knitted pullover and dress from Burda 8/2018.

Step 1. Cutting

Cut 2 slats for the backstage of sleeves 86–87.5–87.5–88–89 cm long and 6 cm wide, including allowances. And also 2 ties of the backstage of sleeves 83–83.5–84.5–85–86 cm long and 4 cm wide, including allowances.

Step 2. Trims for drawstring sleeves

The oversize at one end of the strap for the drawstring sleeves should be ironed to the wrong side.Fold the bar along the wrong side inward and iron it. Pin the strap to the elbow of the sleeve, aligning the ironed fold of the strap with the marked line of the drawstring, and the ironed cut at the end of the strap with the line of the lower edge of the sleeve. Sweep open sections, stitch the bend to the edge.

Step 3. Front seams of the sleeves

Place the front parts of the sleeves on the elbow parts of the sleeves with the front side to the front side, chop and grind the front sections (control mark 1), fixing the straps for the drawstring. Overlock the seams of each seam and iron on the front of the sleeves.

Step 4. Drawstring ties

Fold each stitch in half along the front side inwards, lay a stitch at a distance of 1.2 cm from the fold. Cut the seam allowances close to the stitch, do not cut the ends of the stitches briefly, and thread the darn needles into the eye and tightly knit. To twist the needle, stretch the ear forward through the handlebar. Iron the eyeballs.

Step 5. Sleeves of the Sleeves

Tie the ties into the straps for the drawstring sleeves with a safety pin. The upper ends of the ties should lie at a distance of 2 cm above the transverse marks, at the transverse marks the ends of the ties should be sewn (arrow).

Step 6. The lower seams of the sleeves

Fold each sleeve along the front side inwards, grind the lower sections of the sleeve (reference mark 3). Neaten seam allowances together and iron on elbow part of sleeve.

Step 7. Bending the bottom of the sleeves

Iron the allowances for hemming the bottom of the sleeves on the seamy side, stitch with a double needle on the front side at a distance of 2.5 cm, while starting / ending the lines at the straps for the sleeves of the sleeves.When sewing with the upper two threads, the bobbin thread forms zigzag stitches.
